We were informed this morning of a positive test result for one of our varsity girls basketball players. Based on return to play guidelines and restrictions, the girls team currently is on an undetermined timeline with regard to returning to the basketball court. CDC and local health guidelines provide options, and the actual return date for given players is dependent upon each family's specific course of action. We will make another assessment on Monday at approximately noon with regard to the sports schedule for the remainder of next week for both the girls and boys programs. High school sports remain suspended through at least Friday of this week.

In light of the latest events, I would like to clarify the current status of our high school boys basketball team. Virtually all of our athletes are quarantined due to a positive test by one of our junior varsity players. Due to the nature of our practices, we cannot eliminate the possibility that any (or all) of our high school players were in direct, physical contact with this young man. Under CDC guidelines, neither our coaches nor our girls team would meet the definition of close contacts. While we are disappointed we aren't able to play, I am proud of this young man and his family for doing everything right with regard to testing and notifying his school and teammates. This will be an ongoing challenge, but we look forward to getting back on the court as soon as possible. Thank you for your support. Keith Gudehus Head Coach, Knox County Boys Basketball
